Articles of Agreement, made and concluded this 19 day of May, 1866, between Seymour Winchele of North Egremonh[[?]], County of State of Mass, , party of the first part, and Mary F. Anderson, of Washington City, County of Washington, Dist. of Columbia, party of the second part.

The said Mary F. Anderson freed laborer, agree to enter the service of the said Seymour Winchele as servant, and, also that she will faithfully and diligently apply herself and perform the duties of servant, on the premises of said Seymour Winchele, and answer all the reasonable requirements of the said Seymour Winchele  , for, and during the space of 3 years, from the 19th day of May, 1866; [[strikethrough]]and she further agree that her employer shall retain one-fourth   monthly wages until the expiration of   term of service to wit.[[strikethrough]]

And the said Seymour Winchele, hereby agrees to employ her (the said freed laborer) for the term of 3 years, as aforesaid, and to pay for her services the sum set opposite her  [[strikethrough]]respective[[strikethrough]] name, per month —[[strikethrough]] (one fourth of which shall be retained each month,) and all stoppages and arrearages promptly paid at the expiration of   respective terms of service, to wit:[[strikethrough]]

To Mary F. Anderson Board clothes and Education

[[strikethrough]]in equal monthly payments[k]]; and the said Seymour Winchele, further agrees to furnish said freed laborer above named, quarters, fuel, full substantial and healthy rations, and all necessary medical attendance and supplies in case of sickness, in addition to the compensation above named, and that he will assist and encourage efforts for the education of the children of his employees. and, also, that he will make no charge for liquor furnished his employees.  And it is further agreed by the said Seymour Winchele that in case he at any time fails to perform his part of this agreement, he will pay to the said laborer the full sum of One hundred dollars, as fixed, agreed and liquidated damages.

If it shall be mutually desirable to annul this contract before the expiration of the term agreed upon, it shall be done only in the presence and with the concurrence of such officer of the Freedman's Bureau, (or other authority) as may have immediate jurisdiction in this matter in the district wherein such parties reside.
