#41 //////// Canado, Arizona, September 13, 1904. My dear George2H:- The mail has just come in and I learned from Mr. Hyde that my letters had been received and that the thought of wrecks was now a thing of the past. We had them all around us though. We were held up in K.C. nearly eight hours by one. Mr. Hyde wrote on the 6th. inst. the day that I mailed my last letter to you. Since then I have been playing badger and have succeeded in unearthing a lot of good material. We had to stay in Gallup four days waiting for Mr. Hubbells wagon but the time was well spent in writing and preparing for the blanket work. When I reached here Saturday afternoon I had a long talk with Mr. Hubbell and then took a survey of the store and surroundings. In my wanderings I came across a lot of prehistoric pottery in one corner of his store room. I asked him what it was and he said that it was a lot of material that he had picked up and that he was holding to get his price. I took a general look at the pieces and decided to see more of them later. Sunday afternoon we were talking over mitters in general and Mr. Hubbell spoke of the old pottery. He said that he had been holding it in the region of a thousand dollars but that he needed the room and would let it go for $250.00 He asked me to look over it and let him know what I thought of it.
