#53. 3. I spoke of the paintings that Mr. Hubbell allowed me to photograph. That is I made mention of them in the letter that I wrote yesterday morning to Mr. Hyde. I developed five dozen of the films and when Mr. H. saw them he was delighted. I am to send him a set of prints and after that the negatives are to belong to me. I thought that I might have to return the films to him after taking prints from them but yesterday he said that I might keep them. He stipulated that they must not pass out of my hands however, as he does not want the designs to get into the hands of other traders. The collection is a wonderful one. There are nearly eighty and they represent the work of over twenty years. Mr. Hubbell said that I was the only one who had photographed them and that he would grant the favor to no one else. Is not your Uncle Dud lucky? Must re-cinch now and ride in to see the red bowls that are about to be packed. Wish you could see them as they lie on the shelves. They would make you fell like carrying them East instead of sending them in a common box. This is not supposed to be a reply to your letter. Will answer that later. Write whenever the spirit moves you as I am always looking for them. As ever "Hostine Klish" alias Pep.
