In Camp near Apatzingan, State of Michoacan, Mexico.
     December 6, 1904.

My dear George G:-

Your wire reached me yesterday morning and I was somewhat surprised to find it signed by you. I have not heard from Mr. Hyde since leaving Albuquerque and I have been somewhat worried fearing that something had happened to him. I did hope that the reply would come from him thereby showing that he was all right. I cannot imagine why nor the wherefores of the case so must patiently wait until I return. I can see how you would feel about the matter, that is should he be sick as in that case you would know that there would be a possibility of my woorying [worrying] about the meeting. There is no need of drawing hypothetical conclusions as they are unsatisfying at best. I do hope, however, that Mr. Hyde is in good health and that nothing has happened.
I have had a rather hard time of it during the last few days. Mrs. Pepper and Mr. Cobbs have both been down with the fever and it was pretty hard to leave camp and walk two miles to the mound and continue the work. Both are better this morning and I hope that we can make the start this Friday [[strike out]] nor [[/strike out]] night as we have planned. Made a good find yesterday, taking out five vessels with one body also a large shell armlet. It may prove that one of the teeth is filed, if this is the case the find is especially fine. We have 36 vessels to date and hope to add more to-day and to-morrow. Must close as Mr. Cobbs is about to start to town for medicine and provisions. Will write more later. Hope A letter may be received from B.T.B.H. very soon,
