On this 24th day of June, [[?]] 1865, personally appeared before the undersigned Judge Advocate of the District of Vicksburg state of Mississippi. Bryan [Andrew?] Jr, who [[?]] duly [?], says that he is a loyal citizen of the United States, and was at the [[?]], and for many years before the attempted Succession of the state of Mississippi, a resident of and a merchant at Vicksburg said state; That he has never under any circumstances, given aid or comfort to the enemies in arms of the United States or countenance or countenance or support to the Rebellion or the cause of the so called Confederate States Government, he has never borne arms in their cause-held under said [[?]] government any office or agency of trust, power, or otherwise aided or abetted them in the accomplishment of their designs. That he was ever an unconditional union man, as a member of the convention which met at Vicksburg. On the 8th day of December 1860, he voted for and supported strong resolutions passed against succession; he voted at the poles against recession; denouncing it under all circumstances and in all places, publicly and privately never yielding or conceding his convictions at any time; That the wealth and necessities of his family required him to go to and remain with them in Alabama, where he was compeled to stay, nolens volens, until the surrender of mobile
