Dearest Uncle,
Hi there! heard that you have a very nice trip on the Roosevelt with Jack & Mary. How was Manila? Were you seasick on your way back too? It must have been nice, traveling by boat. I'll have to try it sometime.
I've been quite busy at school. Had a test yesterday & one today. There're more to come too. Right now, and for the next 3 days, we'll be on retreat. We have to keep silent at all times, attend lectures, classes to. The switch board will be loud & we can't even go out without the Dean's permission. We'll really be cut off from the outside world aside from radios, letters, & newspapers - & you, T.J. One thing good though, no classes at all. Most everyone is planning to catch up with school work, write papers & all cuts of academic [[strikethrough]] s [[/strikethrough]] work. It'll be a rest too.

I've been spending the past 2 weekends with mom. We had a nice time in the apt. I guess she's told you all about it by now. We rented a car for the weekend & drove around. Last weekend, [[strikethrough]] we [[/strikethrough]] being very warm, we drove out to the Great Falls of the Potomac out in Virginia. It was pleasant
