Dearest Mom and Uncle,
I was very happy to receive your letter. You know, I haven't heard from you for such a long time that I was about to write to you again. Well, how's everything at home? Please give my love to Grandpa, etc., and Ah Chai. Please thank him for the coconut candy. Don't be surprised, but I've finished all the candy. Not me alone, but a whole bunch of us. All the Chinese girls like it and besides, there are nine of us. So we finished them in a fortnight. By the way, I've received the suitcase. Thank you very much. The shoes you bought are just beautiful, mom; but they're too small for me. I could hardly get my feet in. I guess I need a 7A. What shall I do with the shoes? Shall I send them back to you or just leave them at school?
This is Veteran's weekend & a three day weekend. You know where I am now? [[strikethrough]] Peddle [[/strikethrough]] Pebble Beach. Maggie is here also. Now don't get excited. Aunt Margaret said it was all right to bring her. I think Aunt Marge likes her too. Anyway, Uncle Walter's away & she has another friend with her. We (Maggie & I) came down here by the train yesterday. It took us 2 1/2 hours. It was so much fun on the train.

As for Christmas, I think I'll spend the Christmas with the Reis'. We're going to make plans later in the day
