c/o Chinese Consulate

Dear Miss Lee:

Your letter of November the eighteenth has reached me. I fully appreciate your earnest desire to make a "good will" flight to South America. Just a short time ago, when I visited Central America, many representatives and inhabitants of the countries there talked about your plan with admiration. They all enthusiastically hoped that it might be realized for they were all looking forward to see you. That was why I spoke of it to Dr. K. L. Kwong.

Certainly I should be delighted if I could fly on the same plane with you to visit the South American countries. I regret, however, I won't be able to do this because a cable message has just reached me saying that I must return to China soon. It may be better any way that you make a solo flight. In my opinion, it will command more attention. The suspense of seeing a charming young lady land safely after an adventurous flight still arouses universal interest.

No doubt I approve of the schedule of your proposed flight. If I may, I should like to get more of its details such as the make and size of the craft you are to utilize, and whether or not you are to use your own plane.

If it is agreeable to you, I shall be glad to publicize in China your "good will" tour to South American.

Sincerely yours,
Hing Wan Choy
