To Miss Lee Ya–ching
From Marian Cadwallader
Date May 5, 1942
Subject

May 6th – Labor meeting at 342 Madison Avenue, 4th Floor, between 43rd and 44th Streets, New York City. This meeting is for the drive captains of the Unemployment Relief Committee of the United States Employment Service. Attached is Miss Sabel's memo. Please let us know where you will be able to meet Miss Sabel to go with her.

May 7th – Television Broadwast. [[Broadcast]] Mr. Frye says he has written to you that the rehearsal will be at 4:30 p. m. at the N.B.C. Television Studio, Rockefeller Centre. When you arrive there, ask for Mr. Gary Simpson. The program will be at 8:15 p. m.. I note that the other speakers will be Dr. B. A. Garside, Mr. Charlie See. and Mr. Tang Tsang.

May 8th – Manhasset, Long Island. You and Mr. Timperley are asked to be dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Post, and Mr. Post asked that you go out with him on the Long Island Railroad train leaving Pennsylvania Station (Long Island side) at 5:55 p. m.. Mr. Post's address in New York is c/o Cravath, De Gersdorsff, Swaine, and Wood, 15 Broad Street, New York City; telephone: HAnover 2-3000. We shall check further on the exact meeting place in the station.

May 9th - Chappaqua. I believe Mrs. Russell has spoken to you about this on the phone. I told her you did not think it would be possible for you to accept her dinner invitation. She said she had asked several guests especially to meet you and she seemed so disappointed that I knew I could do nothing more than ask her to phone you. In the evening you will appear at a "China Night" with Dr. Joseph Ku, Mr. Garside, and Mrs. Russell.

May 16th - You are scheduled to stop in Trenton, New Jersey, at the request of Mr. Eichelberger and the Trenton committee to be interviewed on Radio Station WTTM from 1:00 to 1:15 p.m. by Miss Elma Johnston of the Trenton Times. As you are to be in Trenton on May 18th, they were very anxious to have you for this breakfast, and as they are making such an effort to put the campaign over in that city, I thought you should be scheduled for this. I hope you agree, especially since it is on your way to Atlantic City. We shall let you know train times on this later.

May 16th - You will go to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, upon your arrival there. We shall ask to have you met at the station, but if this is not possible, you can take the Ritz-Carlton Hotel's own private bus at the station which will take you to the Hotel. The event in Atlantic City is the Convention of the B'nai B'rith society, representing the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It is called a War Services Convention, and will last for three days, May 16th - 18th. You are to appear on the evening of May 16th. The contacts for this are Mrs. Thelma Lippe, Hennessy Place, Irvington, New Jersey; and Mrs Joseph Herbach, 709 North Franklini Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Your expenses will be paid to and from Atlantic City and also your entertainment at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. There will be other speakers representing other Allied Nations. I feel this is an important group for you to speak to. That is the reason I urged them to have you. I believe you will meet a number of women from these states who will be worthwhile for China. Also, I know they will treat you well because they are looking forward with pleasure
to having you.

May 18th - The travel arrangements for Trenton will be made definite this week. It seems foolish for you to return to New York and then go back to Trenton. It looks as if it would be better for you to be picked up by plane either at Atlantic City or in Philadelphia and flown to Trenton, and I imagine you would enjoy staying in Atlantic City over Sunday and taking advantage of the seashore. The Ritz is right on the Boardwalk. We will check with Mr. Eichelberger on the latter plan.
