Dear Miss Li:
Most regrettably, as far as I am concerned, the idea to have you fly around the country for United China Relief has apparently been permanently side-tracked.

As you know, I worked on it for a long time and we were all considerably interested in seeing it done, but the final decision of the Directors here was against it because of the time it would involve, the difficulty of getting a plane, the fact that many of the local committees in cities you should visit are yet unorganized or just in process of organization, and a schedule of coming events which is already pretty crowded.

I still think it was a swell idea, but I know you will continue to be most useful to United China Relief with the various public appearances and talks you have been making and will continue to make. Incidentally, over the week-end I met a member of the faculty of the Scarborough School who told me in great detail of you appearance there recently. Apparently you made quite a hit.

I am writing this rather hastily on doing my last day at United China Relief inasmuch as I have been transferred back to a new job at LIFE, starting tomorrow morning. However, if you have any ideas for reviving this project or any others I may be able to help you with, please do call me or drop in at the LIFE officers at any time at all.

Sincerely
Frank Johnson
