Miss Lee Ya Ching
353 West 57th Street
New York

Dear Miss Ching:

It was a great pleasure to chat with you at Mr. Friedlander's Aronca-United China Relief party at the Statler, in Cleveland last evening. You made a fine account of yourself in both the radio broadcast and in your after-dinner speech. You certainly are doing a fine job of increasing the general public's interest in China.

You will recall that I told you that Mr. Claude Ryan, President of Ryan Aeronautical Company in San Diego, told us about a month ago that he would be very glad to give one of his Ryan training planes to China provided the United States Government could be persuaded to allow a ship to be diverted for this purpose. I communicated this information to our New York office and they have doubtless made some effort to get the plane. Last evening you spoke of having some contacts with Government officials that might bring about the desired result.

I hope that you may discuss this matter with Mr. Auchincloss and Mr. Swift right away so that action may be had at once looking to the securing of this plane.

I should be pleased if you would write me at United China Relief, 424 Monadnock Building, Chicago, whether your Government contacts seem likely to produce the release of this plane to Madame Chiang.

Sincerely
Lyman Thompson
