GARSIDE Vice-Pres. & Secretary JAMES G. BLAINE Treasurer DANIEL P. ADAMS Assistant Treasurer G. L. McCOY Comptroller A. A. MUELLER Assistant Comptroller May 21, 1942 Dear Miss Lee: Enclosed find check for $9.87 which came in today from Mr. Joseph Herbach for your expenses to and from Atlantic City. I don't know how they knew the amount, unless you told them, as I have not yet received the amount of expense from you. This will save you the trouble of adding this expense to your United China Relief expense sheet for next week. Several new dates have piled up for you: May 26th, 11:30 a. m., at the St. Regis Hotel in New York. You are asked to give a short talk for Mrs. Bacon's committee of workers for United China Relief New York City Committee. This is an important meeting of about one-hundred prominent New York women. They want you to inspire them to go out and bring in the dollars. May 28th, you and Dr. Joseph Ku are scheduled to be guests of honor and speak briefly at the Soudder-Collver School, 227 East 49th Street, New York City. This is a girls' school, and there is to be a reception, commencement exercises, and then a Chinese dinner followed by a Chinese program. The reception is from 6:00 to 6:30 p. m., the commencement exercises from 6:30 to 7:30, and the Chinese dinner and program from 7:30 on. There will be an interesting group of people there. I am familiar with this school and am helping them in every way I can to make it a successful evening. I shall be there myself. As a result of your overwhelming success for the Advertising Club in Boston, a letter came in asking for you for the Annual Banquet of the Lions Club of Worcester, Massachusetts, on the evening of June 2nd. This request came in some time ago, and I accepted tentatively with the understanding that we would do everything possible to have you there as a guest speaker. They have agreed to pay all expenses, and we have made this a definite date. I do believe it is important for you to go to this occasion in Worcester as it will be an appearance before a group of representative men and women.
