Dear Friend:

We are pleased to notify you that you have been accepted as a member of the Junior Birdmen of America. Enclosed you will find your Junior Birdmen wing-in and membership card entitling you to full privileges in this nation-wide organization of airminded boys and girls.

Among the many activities you will participate in, as an active member, are Official Indoor and Outdoor Model-Plane Championship Contests, meetings and gatherings at local theaters, Junior Birdmen Banquets, the annual National Junior Birdmen Popular Pilot Poll, trips to local airports and aviation factories. You will also have many opportunities to win aviation scholarships and other valuable awards in contests of all kinds.

Our official meeting place is the Junior Birdmen Feature Page, published every Sunday in the newspapers listed above. This page, in addition to bringing you news of local members, local Wing activities and messages from National Headquarters, contains many important features such as air courses, lessons in flying, articles on how to build models, drawings of U.S. Aircraft Insignias, definitions of aviation words and terms, questions and answers, and "Air Minded Junior Strip" and photographs as you have always wanted to collect.

To further your activity in the Junior Birdmen of America, and to give you an opportunity to become a real leader in this great movement, the Junior Birdmen Flight Squadron Plan permits you to organize a Unit of your own in your city, town or neighborhood. A large leaflet enclosed tells just how easy it is to build a Unit and secure your National Charter, wing-pin bars for the Commander and Captain, etc.

When you have been a member of the Junior Birdmen of America three months or more you will be eligible to apply for your Eagle Rank. Three months after becoming an Eagle member you can apply for Ace Rank. Watch for details of these important membership steps on your Junior Birdmen Page.

The Junior Birdmen Library Series of Handbooks will be of great assistance in furthering your model-plane and aviation ambitions. You will find these handbooks listed on your Junior Birdmen page from time to time. They sell for ten cents apiece. Every Birdman and Birdwoman should have a library of these important and interesting handbooks. Start yours now.

When buying model plane kits and products, be sure you purchase those bearing the Junior Birdmen Institute Seal of Approval shown in the lower left hand corner of this letter. It is your assurance that the kit or product has been thoroughly tested and approved by the Institute.

The Junior Birdmen of America is a great organization. Practically every great flier in America has endorsed it. Federal aviation officials and Governors of the States have praised it. You should be proud to be a member. Be a real active Birdman or Birdwoman. And be sure to tell your neighborhood friends and school chums to join.

Yours for Happy Landings:
