MAUD EARL first exhibited at the London Royal Academy when she was in her 'teens. The first picture that she showed was "Red Deer," which earned for her the name of "The English Rosa Bonheur." She held the first one-woman show in London when she was in her early twenties, and some years later she held the first one-woman show ever seen in Paris. In 1906, her picture entitled "Their Last Trail" was exhibited at the Royal Academy and subsequently at the Salon, and by special request and invitation, it was shown in all of the large galleries in England, and also in Melbourne, and later at the Anglo-French Exhibition in London. This picture is now in the possession of Lady Kathleen Pilkington, Desart Court, Kilkenny.

MAUD EARL'S work has been reproduced all over the world more than any other living artist's. She painted the favorite dogs of the late King Edward and by the King's command, first proofs of all her pictures were sent to him until the time of his death. Among the portraits painted for him were two of his favorite Irish Terrier and Wire Hair "Jack" and "Caesar"; the engraving of the latter became very popular in England and was entitled "I belong to the King."

In the oriental panels which she had been doing for the past number of years, she had made a great point of craftsmanship with a most careful and finished technique. While her art is entirely Chinese in spirit, it is really not Chinese at all, but Maud Earl!
