September 20th., 1946.

Dear Rudi:
We are having a heat wave - if you can recall what it means! Yesterday's 88° was an all time record temperature for the date, and the cold air blowing from the Zermatt stirred in me a "leiden schaftliche Sensucht" for your beautiful country.

Many thanks for your kind and interesting letter of September 12th., and I am really sorry I took so much of your time with this matter of international exchange, the more so as from news received since I wrote you, the deal sounds most problematical. However, I do appreciate the trouble you took in the matter.

I am so glad to read you had such a thrilling time crossing snow covered mountains - it does remind me of a far distant past, not always pleasant while on the spot, but which certainly keeps one in good shape mentally and physically.

With regard to your "objets d'art", as Liechti wrote to you a little while ago, we have communicated with Lloyds and I do not doubt that they will act in accordance with their customarily broad minded manner.

In both our names, Ethlyne's and mine, I want to thank you for your charming invitation, and do hope that some time next year we will be able to carry out this part of our plans, as my wife is most anxious, from all I have told her, to meet you, and also see Switzerland.

With renewed thanks and kindest regards,
Sincerely yours,

(Germain Seligman)
