I have arranged for your trip in the mountains, should you conclude to go, and will make one of the party for a few days until you are well rested- The most of my time spent in Oaxaca was spent in the forest - and I came across many evidenced of an old civilization. On the backbone of a ridge in the heart of the forest I found a terrace extending for more than half a mile - The front of each terrace being faced up with stone. I send you a photograph of a stone mound on one of the terraces. In Puebla I came across a stone mask - color green, dug up in the state of Oaxaca. I gave it to an Englishman who had done me a number of favors. He was much pleased with same - in fact so pleased with it that he made me
