Mr. Frederick Landsberg,
Victoria, E.C.
My dear Mr. Landsberg:-
Your kind letter of the 11h. inst. was received two days ago and the one with the bill of lading arrived this morning. I want to thank you for both and especially for your thoughtfulness in sending the Lone dagger handle for Mr. Heye. He was in town last night and I therefore had an opportunity to tell him about the material. He is quite anxious to see the handle and he wished me to thank for including it in the shipment. I hope that you will care to keep me posted concerning any old specimens that you find.
I am sorry to have to state that the numbers of the spindles were removed by Mr. Heyes assistant when he was cleaning the material. We have made a count and there are only seven pieces whereas the numbers call for nine. The amount is so small, however, and you have so kindly allowed us to learn of the new specimens that come into your hands that we might as well let the matter drop and call that account settled.
Your shipment should reach us within a few days and by that time I can have a check for the balance on the way to you.
Sincerely yours,
George Pepper
