Mr Geo. H. Pepper.
Dear Sir:

Pardon lateness to reply of your letter of the 4th I have just returned form my vacation. I send you a box by Express. The loose arrows & spears are from Moorefield Arkansas. There are also some Quartz arrows from West. Haven, also mixed arrows from Charlestown R.I. I sendyou some shell arrows from West. Haven, Milford and Pine Orchard Conn - also Hamilton & Wickford R.I. In one box are some pieces of the same shells which the arrows are made from- You will note that where the shells are broken to procure the meat from the clams, that the pieces have sharp edges - while the arrows have rounded sides- If you will examine these under a Glass - you will see the difference- These shell arms are not found in shell Heaps, but are found in fields away from the water - and found scattered around like ordinary arrows- What brought my attention to shell arrows
