Walter cautions me of "facile expression" and I am grateful to him for the advice. It is true - especially in some of my latest ptgs & prints. I have not extracted (Oldfield) water & sky and mountains as I have sand and light & ,color. Every ptg should be a long, thorough piece of hard work - of extracting the rarest most prized quality of each element represented.

As I say all these things I have no worry of ever being out of step or in step. Art is personal and no one can judge save the poet who lives in the artist himself. Social painter or non-objectivist, or landscapist, or surrealist - each must find the poetry of life, or fail. Art is poetry; it is music. The Egyptian decorations, or the modern landscapist - each portrays the poetry of [[crossed out]] the [[\crossed out]] life.
