I have the honor to report that in compliance with your order and in company with Brev't. Brig Gen. F. D. Sewall, U.S.V. Inspector Bureau R. F. and A. L. I visited Natchez, Jackson, Columbus, Lauderdale and Meridian and inspected the affairs of the Bureau in the Districts of which these towns are the Head Quarters, conversing with prominent citizens at each point with reference to the administration of the Bureau and feelings of the people.
