States that on hearing of the killing of the negroes he issued a warrant for the arrest of the murderer, who, he ascertained in a few days, had gone to the sheriff, submitted his case and was acquitted. The evidence before the coroner showed that the negroes commenced the attach and were armed with an axe and a knife
