much we miss the withdrawal of this charity on the part of the government, which previously had kindly supplied in a great measure all the wants of the Orphans in regard to Food, for which we can never be sufficiently grateful.

Your Order General inspires the hope that an appeal to your charity will not be in vain that you will consider our poor Orphans as worthy objects for the bounty of our liberal government, and again permit rations to be issued to us. If this cannot be done in Natchez, they can be sent from Vicksburg on any of the regular Packet Boats free of all expense of freight with the simple cable Sister of Charity St Mary's O. Asylum Natchez
