Sir:

I have the honor to request that transportation be furnished John Sanders and Thirty Nine {39} others, destitute Freedmen, from Meridian Miss to Vicksburg Miss by rail and from Vicksburg to [[strikethrough]] Sartuia [[/strikethrough]] Satartia Yazoo River Miss

This transportation is necessary to prevent suffering and to secure employment for the Freedmen, thus relieving the Government of their support.
