Lieutenant -- I have the honor to present the Report of Schools in this State during the month of March.

Were it not for extending my report to too great a length, I might introduce several interesting facts; but they would only prove what may be stated in general terms.

The teachers available are all well employed.

I have heard of many attempts to open schools in towns and on plantations. Some of these have made a beginning and others are seeking for teachers. The disposition to do something to aid their people in getting education is increasing among those who cultivate plantations.

To aid this movement I have prepared two printed letters, to be furnished as each case may require,
