haps than a hundred barracks were constructed; the roads that at first served only as good mud traps for trucks, were made so smooth and solid that one might roller-skate over them. Not only were these roads made serviceable, but, with their even ditches all along to which they evenly sloped, these roads had  great beautifying affect indeed
