Sept. 28, 77
Began making preparations for a trip up the canal after geese, having arranged with [[strikethrough]]men[[/strikethrough]] the gentlemen at the Redoubt to take my observations during my absence.
Within the last few days a hight board fence has been built around the foot to serve as a protection from the northern natives who are inclined to make trouble during the coming winter.
Sept 29.
Remained about the Redoubt nothing of interest occuring.  An alarm is going about among the natives that the [[Korghkou Lugalik?]] have massacred the natives living at Malakeut.
Since this began to spread the Aquit of the fur company has commmenced fortifying his station on the opposite side of the bay.
Sept. 30.
Made my preparations and started at 3 P.M. on my trip with [[fire?]] natives in the Whale-boat.  Went up the canal about 4 miles to a camping place and stopped for the night.
