Fri 23rd. with Harvey for a drive to beyond Anahola to a wonderful stretch of beach & reef & black rocks (by Jenkin's house & 1/4 acre for $30000) What a beautiful stretch of coastline. Shells - at last a place where one actually finds shells. And a cool breeze - and very hot sand & rocks-  Got 2 sea cucumbers (for drying). Then at 3.30 with Pris to Kauai Museum opening - Bob & Hazel Gahran, Juliet Wichman, Peter & Mary Kim, Kathryn Hume, Childs, Mrs Dunforth (who both tried to sell me real estate) ([[strikethrough]] Yesterday [[/strikethrough]] Wed. The salesgirl in Sears said you're famous and rich!) All haoles, except for a few Orientals & Hawaiians.

Sat 24th July. A good visit to Olu Pua Gardens in Kalaheo mauka - around 12 acres- Bettie & [[strikethrough]] Peter [[/strikethrough]] Ray Lauchis - fruit trees, a "tropical" jungle of huge trees (from the former plantation mgr. residency) - picked rose apple from 2 huge trees, tamarinds on the ground among orchid[[strikethrough]]s[[/strikethrough]] plants, Harin oranges, limes, & visited the palatial house in which were a large & handsome monkeypod table & a white Persian cat.

Sun 25th With Harvey to Kilauea Pt (south side of cliff) we chickened out on way down because of the steepness. The cove looked very blue & dramatic from the top. H. caught a 5# papio. We waited for him in the shade of the storage house.
