Monday July 21 '69 continue - a bad cold. (first summer cold in years). Worked on fence, it's looking fine. Roses in bloom. All colors are deeper - orange Zaubra and W. Abbey almost red. In p.m. went to Helfmans' at Kordak cabin for dessert & tea - no sunset (as promised) - saw the lights of the mainland on the horizon - a different night view. Moon trip still full of anxiety (for us).

Tues 22nd- The fence framework is finished. Must do gate bracing, then attach wire. June S. had tea with us on porch at lunch time. Oklahoma rose - first - opened beautiful round form, dark black-red, and the most enticing fragrance of all. Peace also bloomed - fine deep yellow. People keep coming to see garden. Bruce & Tobey worked on house painting. Bud & Francis came by. No rain. Earth is drying again.

Guitar session tonight with Eddie. June came over later with some of he home baked bread. The moon was setting in a mass of dark clouds that framed a huge shape like a giant eagle.

Wed. A day of [[strikethrough]] clouds [[??]] rain [[/strikethrough]] good weather. Worked on fence all day. My cold getting better. The garden yields all the vegetables we want + need, despite the drought. In evening [[strikethrough]] over to [[/strikethrough]] supper here of black bean sauce - mackerel - (caught by Bud-) - 3 Kornbluths & Tobey -- rice - eggplant, green salad, cherry cobbler. Bud "bought" a drawing for Frances' birthday. I "gave" it to him. He gave me $10.00
