Sun Aug 17 '69 a windy & good day. A strong wind at Black Head where we had lunch & sketched on the rocks of that headland. Did 9 drawings. Saw grasses, grasses all around, in the wind. To Pulpit Rock vicinity, then returned by Pulpit Rock trail, thru Fern Glade. Got some sphagnum. Chipped for specimens at Pulpit, but nothing worthwhile.

Earlier - rummage sale - lousy - donated 3 cans of potted basil & 1 of sweet marjoram.

Had Malabar spinach for the first time tonite. Very delicious, good substance, full-bodied taste.

Mon. Aug 18 Gave Mrs Cass (Horn's Hill) basil, parsley & oregano for spagh./pesto & also a bag of lettuce & greens. Visitors today from P'town, & everywhere. Arnold & Jeanne Bernstein (yacht) dropped in for chat. Fresh clams for supper tonight. Corn very tall. Good windy day today. John Bell & Judy Young here tonite for guitar session.

Tues - Tried to paint today but Uri Shulevitz (BMAS, 9 yrs ago) dropped in, followed soon by Frank & Eve Metz. A cold front cloud swept over the island, followed by a tremendous wind & a heavy downpour which lasted only a few minutes. Then the sea became calm & the skies blue. We went to Palmers at Deadman Cove for drinks at 5- with Martins, Hantmans, etc. Back home for fried codfish head & bok choy & recorder practice - (Corelli) no less.

Wed - A brisk wind, cool, refreshing - a fine day - but we spent it preparing dinner - which turned out very well - sws. cod, chicken bl. bean with bok & zucch, stuffed baked zucch with shrimps & beef, clam-egg slices with snow peas & chard, lemon chiffon pie and a fine rose' wine from Zero. Mostels, 3 Kallems, Helen Calett, Ian & Alice Hunter. The moon set mightily over Zero's house. House painters Tobey & Bruce worked all afternoon
