In the afternoon: 2:30 went into Aleut Bay: neat white-buildings on a small island. An entertainment in a smoky (& new) "long house" put in by "Indians." A walk through the village strung out along the bay. Totem poles, a pebble beach. One or two snow-speckled mountains in the distance over the bay.

Thurs 8/11. Arrived in Vancouver harbor 9 am. Mountains, glaciers, seas behind me. To 456 W 17 Then took a bus to downtown V. In evening to Japanese restaurant with Kings. Museum in town: rocks, minerals

Friday 8/12 to Sun 8/14. 2nd trip to Tuwanek. Arrived late at night in light rain. Clear day. Sat. swimming, fishing (2 small rock cod) - oysters, clams, a beach fire. Pink sharp granite. Salal & huckleberries. Fir bark for firewood.

The return trip on ferry: high mountains to port. Very massive mountains.

Mon. 8/15 Stayed in all day.

Tuesday. 8/16 to downtown V. antique & pawn shops. Museum. Indian artifacts. Rocks & minerals a very good display. To BC Bldg out of downtown - to see more Indian objets[[objects]]. Dinner in Chinatown: pork hash, beef-beanstick, chicken, bitter melon.
