Bureau of Freedmen and Government Farms

Washington D.C. Dec. 26th 1864.

By direction of Major Gen. Augur, Capt. Geo B. Carse V.R.C. is hereby placed in charge of Freedman's Village Va as Military and Civil Superintendent in addition to his other duties, and will relieve Mr. J.J. Johnson now in charge.

Mr. J.J. Johnson will on being relieved report to Capt. Carse for such duty as may be assigned to him.

The property & stores now at Freedman's Village will remain for the present in charge of Mr. George Roscoe and the various per[[sons]] who have receipted for them. 

All Rations will be drawn, issues made, and persons hired, under the direction of Capt. Carse who will see that proper vouchers are made and taken.
