G B Carse
Capt V.R.C. & Supt Freedmens Village

1863

Washington D.C.
April 6th /65.

Respectfully returned to Capt. Geo B. Carse Supt. &c. The cost of the proposed building for school purposes $983.75/100 is so great that the present condition of the funds in my hands will not assist this outlay —.

If deemed advisable the building know as the "Long House" at Freedmens Village could be fitted up at a small expense for a Primary School.

I will furnish the necessary carpenters (if required) and material —

J M. Brown
Capt & A.Q.M
