Indians were all disappointed when we came here and learned that you would not join us, and they have asked me many times to tell you for them that they want you to come next year. They look upon Jess as a kind of human steam-engine; indeed one of their names for him is She-a, which is the name of a poco-loco individual in Zuñi who was run over by a wagon and has not been quite right in his upper story since!

Well, Pep, there will be more anon, when I get back, which will not be so very long now. The work in the church, by the way, is very interesting.

Please give my best regards to all at the Museum, and my cordial greetings to Mrs Pepper, Jeanette, your Father and Mother. I have had the misfortune to lose my own Father since I came, although it was not a great surprise to me. He was 88 years of age and had failed greatly during the last few months; yet it is impossible for one to feel prepared for such eventualities, after all.

With every good wish,
Faithfully yours,
Hodge

Jess and Ed have your letters & no doubt will answer in time. By next Sunday, Ed will get out his "transkit", drawing board, tape (he loves the term tape because it reminds him of tapeworms! and this following along and laborious among you will hear from him.
