My dear Doctor:_

With the summer mail to Chesterfield I had the great pleasure to receive both your most welcome letter and your valuable monographs viz:"A Stone effigy Pipe from Kentucky" and "A Wooden Image from Kentucky". Allthough when you read these lines a long time will have passed since you posted your letter, I trust you will pardon me for answering and thanking you so late, considerating the not altogether up-to-date means of communication in these regions.

It may interest you, perhaps, that I have had a very interesting trip last winter, going with dog-sledge from Repulse Bay via Chesterfield and Yathkyed Lake, where Mr. Rasmussen and I spent the summer among the Padlermiut Eskimo. It is my intention this winter to go to the natives in the neighbourhood
