My dear Mrs.Pepper,
I wanted to write to you long ago to thank you for your
enduring kindness to us during our recent dilemma, but Mr. Putnam mentioned that he was writing to you therefore I waited, thinking that one document at a time from the Putnams would do. Really it was a great comfort to us, to have each a response I've friends to call on for all of our bothersome, yet necessary little needs, while in New York with Mr. Putnam so helpless - and we thank you again & again- you were not only
responsive, but you anticipated our wants. Everyone was good and kind and my heart is full of gratitude-I was so happy to find ourselves safely at home again-Mr- Putnam's appetite began to improve at once & he also began to sleep well-still he doesn't get as vigorous as I hoped there

I am cordially yours
Esther Done Putnam
