[[Stamp]] Freedman's Bureau State of Miss Received JAN 10 1867 [[Stamp]] II 3

The enclosed was handed me by Mrss.
Wilkinson & Bowman who stated that
they could not undertake the case
because they are retained by Mr
Pickett generally as his attorneys.
and requested here to take charge of the
case. If the Bureau desires it &
chooses to make me the same offer
made to them, I will attend to the case
though the fee is very small.

The parties having never been lawfully
married, the legal right to the custody of
the children is now in the woman.
I think proper course would be to come
here and get married others legitimate
the children, & then apply for the
Writ of Habeas Corpus.

Yazoo City. R.S. Holt.
