Bvt. Maj. A.W. Preston

Vicksburg, Miss.

Major
I have the honor to request an order to inspect the Counties composing my District, for the purpose of locating schools, and visiting the respective County seats with a view to obtaining information relative to the interests of the Bureau, and investigating cases which I may receive from time to time, and which may require a personal investigation.
I would wish this order to direct Col. Wills, A.A.M at this point to furnish me the necessary transportation, or, in case that I be allowed mileage, to liquidate my Accounts.

I have the honor to be, Major,
Very Respectfully
Your Obdt. Servant
John D. Moore
1st Lieut. V.R.C.
Asst. Sub Commissioner
