Aberdeen Miss. April 18th, 1867

Respectfy returned to Major Smith, Asst Sub Commr Columbus

With the information that every effort has been made on my part to ascertain the whereabouts name age &c of the orphan Children mentioned within without any practicle results. Mr Holmes represents them now as being unwilling to leave their present homes to go away to an orphans Home, and having made the application to have them sent away and provided for at his request, I think the [[?]] way would be to let them go and [[think?]] for themselves.
