Dear Sir, 

I have a daughter named Lucy — between 12 & 15 years of age — living at Water Valley near Canton Mississippi.

She has lived with Dr Law of Canton — Was taken to Canton Miss by Dr Thomas Dismukes about 1863 and left with Dismukes relative Widow Kirkpatrick of Canton

I have been making every effort in my power to get her home to us here in Nashville. But the many letters we have written have rec'd only such answers as lead us to fear that she is not fairly dealt with — does not get our letters to her honestly read, or hers us honestly written.

Her father mother & brother are living here tolerably comfortably & we think
