on the Louisiana side, and found that the few cases of destitution had been relieved by the Southern Aid Sc'y of St. Louis, and Lt. Rollins at Lake Providence is well provided with stores.

At Columbia, Ark. I found Lieut. Hursey in charge of Chicot Co., and he reports no destitution in his District, and thought it was not necessary to leave any supplies at that point. 

I have only distributed about 50 or 60 sacks of corn & a proportionate amount of meat, & that in small quantities.

I have put off 100 sacks of corn &c. at this point in charge of Lieut. Predmore, from whom I have taken receipts. 

I have found difficulty in distributing to the class who are destitute, and living back from the river, in the fact that I have been unable to find persons who can qualify as
