[[image]] America's Greatest Athlete Jim Thorpe James "Jim" Thorpe, a Sac-Fox Indian, attended the Carlisle Indian Industrial School, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He was considered the greatest football star and all-around athlete of this century. In 1950 he was voted greatest football player of the first half of the 20th century (Associated Press Poll of Sports Writers and broadcaster throughout the country). His records for football, baseball, field and track are known the world over. He was indeed "America's Greatest Athlete".
