Stoughton Feb 16th 1930 Dear Doris, A very cold morning with lots of snow on the ground, & wind blowing a gale. 4° above 0 & growing colder every minute, sun is shining. Pa down cellar piling on coal, this bids fair to be one of our coldest days. Poor little birds will suffer I fear. Some fools make paths, but what's the use, they fill right up again we will wait till the wind stops blowing. all the evening there was the terrible chill untill the snow fell. Pa heard a robin yesterday. we have a pair of little chickadees come around the trees every morning they are a very graceful spry bird. I would feed the little birds more but it calls such a flock of starlings every time I do. Pa brought over a box of hay seed from the
