July 24th 1929

Dear Doris,
We had a terrible hot day Tuesday & it bids fair to be the same today there is no air a stirring, just the day for showers to creep up. I have just been out to pick a few berries for a saucer pie they are getting scarce & dried up O if we could only have a good soaking rain once more, mosquitoes are even scarce, I am glad to say. Pa comes home tired as a dog so at night he sleeps like a log. it is their busiest time. he said they sent lids tax bill to Ralph he found out yesterday it was directed to 290 Walnut St. and he thought it funny he had not received it. I dont know how long he would have kept it.
