—village named Moyudan/Malangan (?) after passing a number of brick and roof tile industries, see a gate with the village name on it just off the main road on the left side

in the village visited Pak Amat Saidi, a leader in the village industry with whom Ibu K. does business
village lies in an area where ground water level only a meter or two below the surface — irrigation from groundwater

population of the village (dukuh) is 700, divided among 140 households (kepala somah) — approximately 50% of the households are active in making basketry

products seen at Pak Saidi's house include traditional items (market baskets, kukusan nasi rice steamers, square besek baskets) and other products in a 'modern' style (lamp shades, nesting baskets and trays, hinged boxes, tutup makanan (food covers))

—the modern style makes use of a fine grade of bamboo, factory
