2. another visit to Pak Amat at Moyudan (see above p. 1-12) - no new information except that Pak Amat's flock of chicken's wiped out by disease - he told us his loss was Rp 400,000 ($1000) - sheets of bamboo weaving done by school children are call "truntum." + they are paid Rp 75 per piece 
2 girls about 12 or 14 came over from their houses and demonstrated making the truntum for us
one girl can make 3-4 truntum a day
workshop area has been moved to a larger room at the back (where chickens were kept when we were there before)
3. visit to P.T. Gunung Penuh, a large semiautomated factory

on the main road which produces pressed + molded laminated plates + dishes from bamboo + mahogany ('mahoni')
bamboo is cut in strips 5 centimeters wide
mahogany logs are put on a machine which turns + slices them into paper then rolls- these rolls are then cut into strips 5 centimeters wide also the bamboo + mahogany strips are interwoven by hand into sheets which are put in the molding + pressing machines + pressed into various shapes
final procedures are laminating + turning with shears also some new products of linen strips + wood chips - waste products in the form of log centers + wood chips are not now being utilized - log centers given away to visitors + wood chips burned or used for landfill
