Pak Buang owns 1300M2 of
sawah located in Desa Tirtonirnolo -
bought this in 1974,
not a warisan
due to this land Pak Buang
(unlike his father) considers his
main occupation to be farming &
says he spends only 35% of his
time on kerajinan ((yet told us
later he spends only 2 hrs from
7-9 AM in his sawah - perhaps
including in his estimates time
spent on raising chickens))
each rice season uses 6
hired laborers for 3 mornings each:
1 for garu
1 for luku
4 for planting
for garu & luku, each using a
sapi, pay 750 per half-day;
for planting 150 per half-day
he does his own weeding
((matun or watun used in this
area instead of dangir - difference
is that matun uses rotary
weeder [gerek] in irrigated fields
whereas dangir uses small bladed

Buang does not participate in

has not yet since buying his
sawah lost a crop to pests
-each season pays 250 Rp to
kalurahan and his fields
are sprayed for pests using
pump sprayer
-uses papuk or a TS fertilizers;
TS is applied to the land
before planting - after
planted a certain size applied 
urea
uses 25 K urea per season &
5 K TS
-buys his firing materials for 200 Rp per
bicycle, uses 3 bicycle loads
per month for himself & two
friends
buys clay at 150 Rp per load &
the three use 1 load per month together
