silver can be purchased from P.T. Aneka Tambang (govn. enterprise), or form Pemurnian Bangel, Jawa Timor
gold from P.T. Aneka Tambang
small producers don't buy directly but through Cipta Niaga (government dealer) or from private individuals
at the time of this survey (1988), silver cost 450,000 Rp per kilo and 24 caret gold cost 13 million Rp.
more silver used than gold
Caluk and Singapadu (a neighboring village) use 600 kilos of silver and (gold?) a month

own 'Eka Suarjaya', a gold and silver enterprise located in Banjar Seseh, Kal. Singapadui, kec. Sukawati
4 k. from Unit Desa office, after Celuk
works in own home, has ten craftsmen ('pengrajin')
sells to stores in Celuk and Kuta
makes items which combine gold and silver
took out 1 BRI loan, in 1988, for 1.5 million Rp
used the loan to buy:
- 2 kilos of gold @ 425,000 Rp
- 4 grams of gold @ 24,700 Rp
- 75,000 Rp worth of stones
- 5 pairs of shears (gunting) @ 10,000 Rp
- 1 kompor bensin @ 22,500 Rp
- 2 'penyanling' @ 8000 to 'halusin' the gold
- 1 'bor listrik' (electrical drill) @ 125,00 Rp
- 1 work table, @ 32,000 Rp
- 1 'roll perak' (mesin mengiling perak) @ 200,000 Rp
rest saved for working capital
uses sheet silver (plat) and silver wire (kawat)
has had this enterprise 2 years
he is a high school graduate, both his parents are farmers
he studied his craft from his brother in law (kakak ipar)
after his high school graduation he got a loan for 170,000 to start his business from a secondary private bank, Bank Sri Parta
he has a sawah land certificate in his parents name to use as a loan guarantee; his BRI loan is in his own name
his wife also a pengrajin perak and comes from from a silversmithing
