father still mencari alang2, but on a sharecropping (bagi hasil) basis on the land of someone else; sells alang2 not yet tied up in bunches
see booklet for details of labor hours and loan utilization
booklet has a correction which says turnover two weeks, not a month ((is turnover for buying supplies the same as turnover for sales?))
masuh for earrings formerly 900 Rm
booklet says they make 200 rings and 50 bracelets a month for 11 months a year, and 300 earrings a month for month a year

at time of interview total gross annual income of this enterprise was Rp 24,600,000 ($13,728 at rate 1792); total expenditures for raw materials Rp 17,964,650 ($10,025)
total annual expenditures for transport only Rp 19,250 ($11)
for labor Rp 4,816,000 ($2686)
for credit costs Rp 591,600 ($330)

thus, total annual expenditures on all five items Rp 23,363,220 ($13,038) and profit Rp 1,608,396 ($898)
however, wages for four family members already deducted and would be considerably more if included there wages
in 1984, when working under masuh system, net profit 600,000 Rp per annum

total labor hours per annum 16,290 now, as compared with only 6810 in 1984

if we now add back in wages earned by four family members, plus money earned by father selling alang2, see that total family income from all sources is 6,549,796 Rp per year (43655 per year or $305 per month), compared with 1,200,000 Rp per year in 1984 ($670 per year, or $56 per month, not yet adjusted for inflation)
