I have not dared to go out this week as there is so much ice, but yesterday the snow melted a lot & in the fornoon I raked over the sidewalk where I empty the ashes on Seaver Street, before it froze up again. I was hunting around yesterday in the bookcase after something to read & came across "Ramona" so last night while waiting up for Pa to come home, I was in the midst of the story where did that book come from there seemes to be something torn from the inside cover & I thought it might be a library book, an early settlement of Mexican territory & then taking the land from the Indians, rather cruel treatment & guess true. well I am roasting a piece of fresh pork for our dinner. we had lamb all the week & Pa is sick of it. he likes Pork better. I baked a good pot of beans & made a cream washington pie & some apple pies. & two double loaves of bread yesterday & drop cakes so I guess it will last us some little time yet. I opened some of those nice peaches Sid brought home, they were fine. Maude is looking forward to our shore trips next summer, she loves to go there & watch the baby & Ralph too.  Ma
