Dear Doris

Nice cool days but it is to be hot the latter part of the day according to weather statistics. Pa had a terrible gloomy day yesterday all day, in spite of everything. I never felt bluer, there was no one to cheer him up all day. he is talking of going downtown to have his hair cut this morning. I hope he does, he cant be worse in mind & perhaps it may make him feel more cheerful. he has been hunting for three days to find his papers. Dykemans mortgage papers & his fathers deed of this land. I tell him it may be down in the bank vault. he says its not down there its somewhere in this house. I have put all the stamps in a tin box with a screwed on cover & taken them out of the former place in the safe.
